The New Year has just begun and we have started witnessing a lot of celebrity hairstyles. Men and women are heading to salons to get new looks for 2010. Celebrity hair needs to be styled with care and stylists make use of professional hair shears while dealing with celebrities.

It was Britney Spears who started 2010 with a new celebrity hairstyle. Britney went Brunette again and was spotted with her new ‘do in a hotel. Brit had been showing off her trademark blonde locks for months until she got a new darker hair color.

The surprising celebrity hairstyle of 2010 (so far) has been that of Lady Gaga who sported a new hair color at the Fontainebleau in Miami. Perhaps bored of her platinum strands, which experienced a host of transformations in 2009, the Paparazzi singer had taken her blonde ambition to the next level, opting for a shade of sunny flaxen that is ambitious indeed.

Lady Gaga hairstyles were very weird in 2009 as one of her styles looked like a massive dome. Celebrity hairstyles can be unconventional at times and Lady GaGa is one celebrity who makes them look ridiculous at times.

Recently, Kate Gosselin ditched her famous short spiky ‘do and started the new year off with an old (for her) hairstyle. Thanks to hair extensions, Kate’s blonde locks are now long and lush. It is reported that celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson, spent nearly 20 hours last week meticulously adding hundreds of extensions to Kate Gosselin’s hair.

We are just one week old in 2010 and have already seen some high profile celebrities sporting new styles. It seems that 2010 will be a year of celebrity hairstyles!

Cosmetology education is becoming one of the most preferred courses for students today. The hair industry promises tremendous growth in 2010 meaning that the industry will require large number of qualified cosmetologists. National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences predict that employment opportunities will increase by 30 percent in 2010.

So who is called a cosmetologist and where can one gain cosmetology education?

In simple terms, a cosmetologist is an individual who performs hair-cutting, coloring, styling, manicures, pedicures, makeup, etc. either in a professional salon or as an independent consultant. One has to earn a cosmetology license to practice as a cosmetologist for which training in cosmetology is essential.

Cosmetology education is primarily essential because it lays the foundation for a strong career. There are various roles that one can adopt after undergoing cosmetology education, such as Hairstylist, Manicurist, Shampooer, etc. However, it is essential to undergo primary training before deciding to specialize in a particular field.

Licensing and training requirements are different for each of the roles mentioned above. You can check the Licensing requirements for your state by visiting the website of Beauty Schools.

As far as the educational requirements are concerned, one must have graduated from a state-licensed cosmetology school to become a licensed cosmetologist. The rules vary for different states and cosmetology courses to be studied in private beauty schools, community colleges, high schools, technical and vocational schools.

The best way to undergo training in cosmetology is by following online cosmetology education programs like the Cutting Edge Hair Show. This online TV and video education series from ScissorBoy is designed for professional hairstylists, salon owners and cosmetology students.

The primary goal of this online cosmetology education program is to provide ten minutes of high quality, step by step education and video instructions to stylists. Students also get to learn the best and latest techniques from top stylists who are regularly featured on this show.
