Can a hairstylist ever injure his clients? The answer may be affirmative if we believe a recent news report from the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). The report states that many hairdressers have a “careless attitude” towards safety of their clients, which I believe is due to lack of proper cosmetology education.
APIL has expressed concern that too many hairdressers are going into business without appropriate preparation as a result of lax regulation. The negligence of safety norms and non-compliance of standards laid down by the Hairdressing Council is causing many customers to be exposed to the risk of suffering a life-changing personal injury.
A spokeswoman from the body said: “Anyone can pick up a pair of scissors and call themselves a hairdresser, with or without training and qualifications.”
Every salon must guarantee safety for their clients by adopting safety measures and following standard practices. Sometimes, it becomes difficult to handle unstable employees but I feel this is where the need of proper cosmetology education is required.
Cosmetology education is very important for stylists as it prepares them to become better cosmetologists than merely becoming a barber or a colorist. These programs ensure overall development of an individual and make them competent in the hair industry. If a stylist finds it boring to attend personal lectures, he can opt for online cosmetology education programs. All you need is an internet connection and you can take courses any time you choose.
ScissorBoy’s Cutting Edge Hair Show is a popular online cosmetology education program. It not only provides training in hair-cutting and coloring, but also trains in salon management, sales techniques, communication skills, product and service marketing, etc. One of their episodes highlights the issue of salon safety for customers. Check it out below:
APIL have termed the current state of affairs as “absolutely shocking”, stressing on the fact that allergic reactions to dyes and other compounds can lead to “severe pain, scarring, depression and anxiety. However, after going through the above video, you must have realized the dos and the don’ts while dealing with the safety of your clients.
If you are a stylist or a cosmetology student, you should definitely subscribe to ScissorBoy’s FREE online cosmetology education program. By regularly watching the online episodes, you will learn more in 10 minutes than you can learn in 10 days by reading books!
