The New Year has just begun and we have started witnessing a lot of celebrity hairstyles. Men and women are heading to salons to get new looks for 2010. Celebrity hair needs to be styled with care and stylists make use of professional hair shears while dealing with celebrities.

It was Britney Spears who started 2010 with a new celebrity hairstyle. Britney went Brunette again and was spotted with her new ‘do in a hotel. Brit had been showing off her trademark blonde locks for months until she got a new darker hair color.

The surprising celebrity hairstyle of 2010 (so far) has been that of Lady Gaga who sported a new hair color at the Fontainebleau in Miami. Perhaps bored of her platinum strands, which experienced a host of transformations in 2009, the Paparazzi singer had taken her blonde ambition to the next level, opting for a shade of sunny flaxen that is ambitious indeed.

Lady Gaga hairstyles were very weird in 2009 as one of her styles looked like a massive dome. Celebrity hairstyles can be unconventional at times and Lady GaGa is one celebrity who makes them look ridiculous at times.

Recently, Kate Gosselin ditched her famous short spiky ‘do and started the new year off with an old (for her) hairstyle. Thanks to hair extensions, Kate’s blonde locks are now long and lush. It is reported that celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson, spent nearly 20 hours last week meticulously adding hundreds of extensions to Kate Gosselin’s hair.

We are just one week old in 2010 and have already seen some high profile celebrities sporting new styles. It seems that 2010 will be a year of celebrity hairstyles!

Hairstyles are usually meant to keep hair in a properly groomed condition. However, there are a few individuals who like to wear trendy hairstyles. These people will go to salons, color their hair in the most contrasting colors, and use hair shears to trim their hair and do many such experiments with their hair.

The end result for such experiments is not important for these people but if they are students in their primary schools, then it will attract the wrath of their teachers.

There have been too many incidents in primary schools recently, regarding hairstyles. Every other day, we read stories about students being tortured by their teachers for their hair. I agree that schools should impose a strict discipline for the appearance of its students but what is the point to torture students for an unusual hairstyle. I wonder how hairstyle affects your education!

Taylor Pugh is a pre-kindergartner and likes his floppy hair which is long on the front and sides, covering his earlobes and shirt collar. However, he was handed a school suspension as his long locks violate the dress code of his school situated in Texas. His parents are battling school over their son’s suspension.

There are many students like Taylor Pugh who have been punished by their schools for wearing long hair or sporting trendy hairstyles like a Mohawk. Many people have religious beliefs associated with hair and would never compromise to part their company, but the school authorities forget to respect it.

Teachers are supposed to impart good values to students but are becoming so violent that they are setting up a bad example and creating a fear amongst the young ones. Recently, a teacher imposed a barbaric punishment on Lamya Cammon. Lamya is a first grader and she was shamed by her teacher as she cut a chunk of hair with hair shears and threw it away. All this happened right in front of her classmates and one can imagine the amount of embarrassment the kid had to go through.

Such violent actions from teachers are challenging the safety of children in schools. After all, schools are meant to provide education and not to single out students with different hairstyles and hand them punishments. I don’t think it is right to hold a child down and force him to do something, when it’s not hurting him or affecting his education.
